Big News! Big News!
“Black Voices -Take 6: Take 1”
Birmingham based a cappella quintet Black Voices, are used to hearing the familiar phrase “Take 1” when in studio for TV, Radio and even when recording any of their previous 9 albums.
From the 3rd - 8th August, this phrase will literally create huge excitement and nervous tension, as they ‘Take 1’ of the world’s most revered male a cappella ensemble – Mark Kibble of Take 6, a key component of this notable group, to work with them on the ‘1st Take’ in their debut recording session at their new studio complex - CMAT in the north of the city.
“The nervous tension is unreal”, says music director – Carol Pemberton. “We are celebrating our 21st birthday from October 2008 and this is just a brilliant way to launch this year-long celebration.”
To add to all this wonderful tension, the pieces being recorded are written and arranged by Mark Kibble. Did I mention that they have been awarded several Grammys? Every a cappella group in the world know Take 6, want to sing like Take 6, and perhaps can only dream about this kind of opportunity. It’s a ‘1st Take’ in so many special ways for Black Voices. We hope it translates to many more ‘1st Takes’ in breaking new ground for the group.
